At the age of 75, Brother Marian Markiewicz CFCI passed away, the former driver of Cardinal Karol Wojtyła. It was he who drove him to the memorable 1978 conclave.

Farewell to Ewa Bednarkiewicz (1938–2026)

At the age of 88, Ewa Bednarkiewicz passed away in Warsaw. She was the President of the Circle of Friends of the Foundation in Poland, a member of the Administrative Council for three terms, and an exceptionally dedicated guardian of the legacy of St John Paul II. Pope Benedict XVI honoured her with the Order of St Sylvester.

The Premio San Giovanni Paolo II inspires action and holiness. In the spirit of John Paul II, it supports Christian values and helps make the world a better place.

The Premio San Giovanni Paolo II was established ‘to promote knowledge of the thought and work of John Paul II and of his influence on the life of the Church and society’, and to recognise individuals, organisations and initiatives that draw inspiration from the teaching of St John Paul II in their academic, cultural and social activities. The prize honours those who, through their work, continue his legacy and translate the values he proclaimed into concrete action in the Church and in the world.
